Psalms — Chapter 90

QUI HABITAT IN ADIUTORIO ALTISSIMI. Lapide: Psalm 90 — "He that dwelleth in the aid of the most High, shall abide under the protection of the God of Jacob." Lapide: the great psalm of divine protection, cited by the devil in the temptation of Christ (Mt. 4:6 — "for He hath given His angels charge over thee"). Lapide: the devil misquoted and misapplied this psalm; Christ corrected him by quoting Deut. 6:16. The psalm promises protection to those who DWELL in God (qui habitat) — not to those who test Him. Lapide: habitation in God = the state of sanctifying grace; the angels protect those who are in that state.
