Psalms — Chapter 89

DOMINE REFUGIUM FACTUS ES NOBIS. Lapide: Psalm 89 — the great psalm of Moses, the only psalm attributed to Moses in the Psalter. "Lord, Thou hast been our refuge from generation to generation." Lapide: God as the permanent dwelling-place of His people: before the mountains were made, before the earth was formed, God was their home. Lapide: this verse is the foundation of the doctrine of divine aseity and eternity — God exists independently of all creation; He is the "refuge" (domus) of the soul because He is the uncreated ground of all creaturely being.
