Psalms — Chapter 67

EXSURGAT DEUS ET DISSIPENTUR INIMICI EIUS. Lapide: Psalm 67 — the great processional psalm. "Let God arise, and let His enemies be scattered." Paul quotes a verse from this psalm (v.18) in Eph. 4:8. Lapide: primarily a psalm for the procession of the Ark; allegorically the Resurrection ("Exsurgat Deus" = God arises from the dead) and the Ascension. The scattering of enemies = the dispersal of sin, death, and the devil by the power of the Resurrection.
