EXAUDI DEUS ORATIONEM MEAM CUM DEPRECOR. Lapide: Psalm 63 — "Hear, O God, my prayer when I make supplication to Thee." Lapide: the simple beginning of prayer — asking God to hear. Lapide: the confidence of prayer is itself a grace: without God's gift of the spirit of prayer, the soul would not even begin to pray.
