Psalms — Chapter 62
DEUS DEUS MEUS AD TE DE LUCE VIGILO. Lapide: Psalm 62 — the morning psalm of longing. "O God, my God, to Thee do I watch at break of day." The morning prayer as encounter. Lapide: "ad te de luce vigilo" — I watch for Thee from the first light. The contemplative soul anticipates the dawn, rises before it, watches for God as for the rising sun. "Sitivit in te anima mea, quam multipliciter tibi caro mea" (v.2 — Vulgate) — my soul has thirsted for Thee; my flesh also, in how many ways, for Thee. Lapide: the entire person — soul and body — directed toward God in longing.
