DOMINI EST TERRA ET PLENITUDO EIUS. Lapide: Psalm 23 — the processional psalm for the Ark. "The earth is the Lord's and the fullness thereof." Lapide: all creation belongs to God; man is a steward, not an owner. This verse is the root of the social doctrine of property: while private ownership is natural and good, it is always relativized by the prior claim of the Creator.
