BEATUS VIR QUI TIMET DOMINUM. Lapide: Psalm 111 — the beatitude of the one who fears God. "Blessed is the man that feareth the Lord: he shall delight exceedingly in His commandments." The fear of the Lord as the root of all human flourishing. Lapide: this psalm describes the perfect Christian — generous to the poor (v.9), just in business, stable in heart (v.7), not fearing bad news (v.7), his horn exalted in glory (v.9). Lapide: the "horn exalted" = the resurrection of the body; the goods of the just man in this psalm are both temporal (prosperity, stability) and eternal.
