Psalms — Chapter 112

LAUDATE PUERI DOMINUM. Lapide: Psalm 112 — the first of the Hallel psalms (sung at Passover). "Praise the Lord, ye children: praise ye the name of the Lord." Lapide: "pueri" = (1) literally young people; (2) allegorically those young in virtue and beginners in the spiritual life; (3) tropologically all the faithful who are "children of God" by adoption. The universal call to praise beginning with the humblest.
