Psalms — Chapter 106

CONFITEMINI DOMINO QUONIAM BONUS. Lapide: Psalm 106 — another great meditation on God's mercy in history. Four groups of rescued people: desert wanderers (vv.4-9), prisoners (vv.10-16), the sick (vv.17-22), storm-tossed sailors (vv.23-32). Lapide: each group represents a type of spiritual condition — disorientation, bondage, sickness, storm — from which God rescues those who cry to Him. Lapide: "clamabunt ad Dominum... et de necessitatibus eorum eripuit eos" (v.6: "they cried to the Lord... and He delivered them from their distresses") — the cry, the hearing, the deliverance: the pattern of all prayer answered.
