Other flrange things done by enchanrers , falfe Prophets, and diuels, are not indced true miracles; but cither fleights, by quicknes and nim- blenes of hand , called legier-demain , conueying one thing away and bringing another;or falfe reprefentations deceining the fenfes and imaginations ef men,by - making things fceme to be that they are nor; or els are wrought by applying na- tural caufes knowen to fome , efpecially to diuels ; who alfo by their natural force can doe great things , when God permitteth them, And fo by enchaninents and cevtaine fecrecies , thefe forcerers either conucyed away the rods and water,and brought dragons and bloud in their place , and more frogs from other places, or els by the diuels ving natural agents turned rods into ferpents , water into bloud , and other matter into frogs : al which mightbe done naturally in longer time , and by the diuel iu (hort time, But manic tnirgs are wholy above the di- uels power: as to deltroy the world: to change the general order th:rof : to create of nothing : to raife the dead to life: to giue fight to the borne blind ;and the like , which are only in Gods power. And Aaron tooke the rod before Pharao and his feruants , the which was turned into a ferpent. 11. And Pharao called'(s) the wife men and the enchanters: and“ they alfo by Agyptian enchantmens and certaine fecrecies did in like manner.12.
