DOMINE DEUS MEUS IN TE SPERAVI. Lapide: Psalm 7 — a prayer for deliverance from enemies. David protests his innocence before God. Lapide: the appeal to God as judge (v.9: "judge me, O Lord, according to my justice") is not presumption but confidence in God's knowledge of interior truth — He alone sees what men cannot see. Lapide: allegorically Christ appealing to the Father in His Passion, protesting the injustice of His condemnation.
