Psalms — Chapter 60

A FINIBUS TERRAE AD TE CLAMAVI. Lapide: Psalm 60 — "From the ends of the earth I have cried to Thee, when my heart was in anguish." Lapide: the psalm of the Church in exile — "from the ends of the earth" = the furthest reaches of the world where the Church has been scattered. Allegorically: Christ's prayer in His distance from the Father (the dereliction). The "rock" to which David wants to be elevated (v.3: "set me up on a rock") = Christ, the Rock of ages.
