Psalms — Chapter 54

IACTA IN DOMINUM CURAM TUAM. Lapide: Psalm 54 — "Cast thy care upon the Lord, and He shall sustain thee." Peter quotes this in 1 Pet. 5:7. Lapide: "iacta" — cast, throw with force, as one throws a heavy burden. The image is of a traveler throwing a heavy pack onto a beast of burden. Spiritual abandonment to Providence: the soul does not carry its anxieties alone but throws them onto God, who willingly takes them. "Ipse te enutriet" — He will nourish/sustain thee. The divine care is nutritive, feeding the soul through every trial.
