CANTATE DOMINO CANTICUM NOVUM. Lapide: Psalm 149 — "Sing ye to the Lord a new canticle." The "new canticle" repeated from Ps. 97: the song of the New Covenant. Lapide: "Laus eius in ecclesia sanctorum" (v.1) — His praise in the church of the holy ones: the proper place of praise is the Church, the assembly of the saints. The individual's praise is completed and perfected in the liturgical assembly.
