Joshua — Chapter 13

Lapide: \"Joshua was old and advanced in years, and there remained very much land to be possessed.\" God reminds Joshua that the gradual expulsion of the Canaanites was by divine design (Exod. 23:29): lest the land become desolate and wild beasts multiply; the people must grow strong enough to inhabit it fully.
