Genesis — Chapter 46

AND GOD SPOKE TO ISRAEL IN A VISION BY NIGHT, CALLING HIM, AND SAYING TO HIM: JACOB, JACOB. AND HE ANSWERED: HERE I AM. — God appears to Jacob at Beersheba as he departs for Egypt and confirms the great migration: \"I am the most mighty God of thy father: Fear not, go down into Egypt, for I will make a great nation of thee there. I will go down with thee thither, and will bring thee back again from thence.\" Jacob is 130 years old (Gen. 47:9). The 70 souls descending to Egypt = the beginning of Israel as a nation (Deut. 32:8; Exod. 1:5).
