Genesis — Chapter 33
Verse 1
AND JACOB LIFTING UP HIS EYES, SAW ESAU COMING WITH FOUR HUNDRED MEN. — The reconciliation of Jacob and Esau: after twenty years of separation and Jacob's flight, the brothers meet with tears and embraces (v. 4). Lapide: \"Esau ran to meet him, and embraced him, and fell upon his neck, and kissed him\" — what a reversal from his murderous threat! God had softened Esau's heart. Morally: when we fear an enemy and humble ourselves before God, God turns the heart of the enemy.
