And when thou art come into the land which the Lord thy God will give thee to possess, and hast conquered it, and dwellest in it. The offering of first-fruits is a solemn confession of God's goodness and a profession of faith in the history of salvation: 'A Syrian ready to perish was my father' (v. 5)—the creed of national dependence on God.
