Deuteronomy — Chapter 14

Because thou art a holy people to the Lord thy God: and he chose thee to be his peculiar people of all nations that are upon the earth. The laws of clean and unclean foods signify, allegorically, the distinction between virtues and vices; and literally, Israel's separation from the nations as God's consecrated portion.
