Ahab serves Baal: Lapide identifies \"Baal\" as the name given to Nemrod, founder of idolatry, about 300 years after the Flood. From him all other false gods of the nations received the name Baal. Ahab added the Baal of the Sidonians to the golden calves of Jeroboam, encouraged by his wife Jezebel, daughter of the Baal-priest Ethbaal, king of Sidon.
