Zechariah — Chapter 6

Ecce vir Oriens nomen eius

'Behold a man, the Orient is his name; and under him shall he spring up and shall build a temple to the Lord.' À Lapide gives a celebrated commentary on 'Oriens' as a Messianic title: Christ is the Rising Sun (Sol Oriens), the Sun of Justice (Mal. 4:2), the Dayspring from on high (Luke 1:78). The building of the temple is the founding of the Church—Christ builds it through His death and resurrection. He cites Origen, Jerome, and Ephrem Syrus on this verse.
