ERIPE ME DE INIMICIS MEIS DEUS MEUS. Lapide: Psalm 58 — "Deliver me from my enemies, O my God." Lapide: literally David's prayer when Saul sent men to watch his house and kill him (1 Sam. 19:11). Allegorically: Christ in the Passion surrounded by enemies. Tropologically: every Christian surrounded by temptation, persecution, and sin.
