DEUS DEORUM DOMINUS LOCUTUS EST. Lapide: Psalm 49 — the great judgment scene. "The God of gods, the Lord hath spoken, and called the earth from the rising of the sun to the going down thereof." Lapide: "Deus deorum" — God of gods: the supreme God above all whom men worship (true or false). The universal summons of all creation to the divine tribunal. Lapide: this is a figure of the Last Judgment, in which God calls the earth to account.
