Psalms — Chapter 127
BEATI OMNES QUI TIMENT DOMINUM. Lapide: Psalm 127 — "Blessed are all they that fear the Lord, that walk in His ways." The beatitude of the God-fearing household. Lapide: vv.1-2 describe the blessed husband (blessed by his own labor); vv.3-4 the blessed wife (fruitful as a vine); v.3 the blessed children (as olive plants around the table). Lapide: this psalm is the theology of the Christian family in miniature — ordered to God (fear of the Lord), fruitful (children as olive plants), prosperous (eating the fruit of one's hands), and hopeful (seeing Jerusalem's good all the days of one's life, v.5).
