Numbers — Chapter 15

The soul that does anything presumptuously, whether he is native or stranger, the same blasphemes the Lord; that soul shall be cut off from among his people. Presumptuous sin is graver than ignorance; it scorns the known law of God.

God commands fringes on the corners of garments; they are a perpetual reminder of all the commandments of the Lord. The external sign serves the interior recollection of duty.
