Jeremiah — Chapter 46
Synopsis: Fifth section: oracles against the nations (chs.46-51). Egypt first (ch.46): Pharaoh Necho's army routed at Carchemish by Nabuchodonosor; Egypt's complete subjugation; but Israel consoled: 'Fear thou not, O Jacob my servant.'
Verse 27
But fear not thou, O my servant Jacob, and be not dismayed, O Israel: for behold I will save thee from afar, and thy seed from the land of thy captivity. God's consolation to Jacob/Israel within the oracle of doom against Egypt. The juxtaposition typifies God's ways: judging all nations, yet preserving His servant.
