Haggai
Haggai
In Haggai, à Lapide expounds the post-exilic prophet's call to rebuild the Temple as a figure of the Church's perennial obligation to maintain divine worship. The promise that 'the glory of this latter house shall be greater than of the former' (Hag. 2:9) is treated as a prophecy of the Incarnation: the Second Temple's greater glory lies in its being visited by Christ Himself.
