Ezekiel — Chapter 41
Measurements of the Temple's inner sanctuary, the Holy of Holies, the side chambers, and the facade carvings (cherubim alternating with palm trees). Lapide reads the Holy of Holies (the most sacred inner chamber) as the eternal beatific vision; the outer sanctuary as the Church Militant; the vestibule as the catechumenate and penitential state.
Verse 18
The carved cherubim and palm trees alternating on the Temple walls: Lapide reads the alternating figures as representing angels and the just saints alternating in the heavenly court, the angelic orders interspersed with the glorified human souls forming one worshipping community.
