Deuteronomy — Chapter 22


Verse 1

Thou shalt not pass by, if thou seest thy brother's ox or his sheep go astray; but thou shalt bring them back to thy brother. Lapide applies this allegorically to spiritual care: we must not neglect the spiritual wandering of our brethren, but bring them back to the fold by fraternal correction.

Verse 5

A woman shall not be clothed with man's apparel, neither shall a man use woman's apparel. Cross-dressing is an abomination before God, because it overturns the natural distinction of sexes which God established in creation. Lapide notes that both external decorum and the internal order of nature are violated.
