2 Chronicles — Chapter 5
Verse 9
FUIT ITAQUE ARCA IBI USQUE IN PRAESENTEM DIEM — Lapide explains the author of the Chronicles' Diaries wrote before the exile; Esdras later compiled the books of Paralipomenon from those Diaries. By the time of Esdras the Ark was no longer in the Temple, having been hidden by Jeremias before the destruction (cf. II Mach 2:4).
Verse 10
NIHILQUE ERAT IN ARCA NISI DUAE TABULAE — Lapide cross-references his commentary on Hebrews 9:4 for the question of the urn of manna and the rod of Aaron. Only the two tablets of the Law remained.
Verse 13
The Shekinah fills the Temple: \"ET IMPLERETUR DOMUS DEI NUBE\" — When all the priests and Levites lifted their voices in unison singing 'Confitemini Domino quoniam bonus,' the glory of the Lord filled the house so the priests could not stand to minister.
