1 Samuel — Chapter 25
Verse 1
Samuel dies and all Israel mourned and buried him in his house at Ramatha. Lapide: note the love and respect of the whole people for Samuel their judge, prophet, and author of all good. His bones were translated to Constantinople under the Emperor Arcadius (A.D. 406) with great imperial and popular solemnity — Jerome (Contra Vigilantium) cites this translation as proof that the relics of the saints are worthy of veneration.
