God appears to Solomon a second time — \"I have heard thy prayer\": Lapide: This second appearance confirms the divine promise — God's name will be in the Temple forever. But conditional on obedience: if Solomon walks in God's ways the kingdom is secure; if not, the Temple itself will become a byword and a hissing among the nations.
