1 Kings — Chapter 20

A prophet promises Ahab victory over Ben-hadad: Lapide: Even the wicked Ahab receives divine assistance when he acts rightly, for God vindicates his own honour against Ben-hadad's blasphemy. The victory is entirely God's — \"You shall know that I am the Lord.\" Divine mercy even to sinners is conditioned on their at least external compliance with God's word through the prophet.
